Stir-fried Rice with Pork and Onion

Stir-fried rice is a quick and tasty lunch for us. You can add almost any kind of vegetables from your fridge and a little protein. We had leftover roast pork today, so I made stir-fried rice with pork and onions. This time, I used the cooked pork. If you only have fresh meat, you need to cook the meat before you add the rice to the wok.

Ingredients for Stir-fried Rice with Pork and Onion

  • Rice: 250ml
  • Water: 400ml
  • Pork (I used leftover roast pork today)
  • Onion: 1 small size
  • Spring Onion or Chives
  • Garlic: 1-2 cloves
  • Ginger: 1 piece
  • Salt, Black Pepper
  • Soy Sauce: ½ tablespoons
  • Vegetable Oil: 1 tablespoon

Preparation

  • Cook the rice with slightly less water than usual.
  • Chop up the garlic, ginger, onion and spring onion or chives.
  • Chop up the pork into small pieces.

How to Cook Stir-fried Rice with Pork and Onion

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok, add chopped garlic, ginger, and then add chopped onions.
  2. Add the cooked rice, salt, black pepper, cook on a medium-high heat, occasionally stirring.
  3. When the rice starts getting crispy, add the pork on them, occasionally stirring.
  4. Pour the soy sauce, letting it slide down the sidewall of the wok, so that you can add a burnt soy sauce flavour.
  5. Turn off the heat, sprinkle the spring onion or chives and serve.
